Yes, 41 years ago today Charles Manson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten were found guilty of all charges. 

What wasn’t said was that the defense rested without putting up a minute of defense for the defendants. In fact, there were 19 witnesses that were subpoenaed to testify on their behalf that were never called. No one at all were allowed to take the stand in their defense. No evidence was allowed by the attorneys to be put forth in their defense. The defendants were not allowed to testify as to the real motive for the murders— that they were copycat killings in an attempt to free Bobby BeauSoleil of the Gary Hinman murder, which the killings were supposed to be a mirror of.

The man who probably masterminded the murders (Charles Watson) was not even tried with Manson and the other defendants. His trial started much later and almost ended in a hung jury. The entire world felt that with Manson and the girls behind bars, the worst was dealt with. It seems that only 10% of the media coverage of the Manson trial was on the Watson trial.

To this day movies and documentaries fail to mention Charles Watson. Why? 

Charles Watson has long confessed to taking all seven lives in the Tate/LaBianca massacre. He casually brags about the murders when they suit him, and it’s been long revealed that he had ties to the Tate home before the murders and probably the LaBianca home as well.

How would the world feel if Watson walked on all charges against him? Would they still feel safe that Manson was behind bars?
